The KET Partnership
Kingston Educational Trust (KET) is made up of three partners comprising: Kingston University, Kingston College and EducationKingston (which is itself a partnership between the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and almost all local state-funded schools).
KET's main objective is to provide a new 6-form entry, co-educational, non-faith secondary school for the north of Kingston, based on the North Kingston Centre site.
KET's three partners have substantial and successful experience of the strategic leadership and day to day management of educational institutions. The values and skills of the partners will ensure that KET contributes to enhancing the diversity and quality of education in Kingston.
KET will be governed by a board of Trustees which will work to achieve the Trust’s charitable aims. The Trustees will be nominated by the three partner institutions.
The Trustees will seek involvement in the development of the building proposals for the new school and will shape its educational philosophy.
In due course the Trustees will appoint a temporary Governing Body for the school. KET will have significant representation on the Governing Body through Foundation Governors nominated by the Trustees.
The Governing Body will be responsible for the operation of the school and for exercising its statutory powers and duties. These will include appointing a headteacher, developing key policies and implementing admissions procedures. The Governing Body will be representative of the community that it serves.
